User-Environment Interaction

Humans are evolving with technology whether we like it or not. To explicitly face this reality, and actively seek to understand it, we can maximize the success of this co-evolution. CENTIENTS supports development of a new field – human-building interaction – which represents unique collaborations between many fields – architecture, engineering, computer and data science, human factors, and psychology, and more; it therefore contributes to multiple fields. The most exciting implications of the emerging field of human-building interaction are the possibilities for optimizing automation in buildings for many goods - safety, security, worker well-being and energy efficiency to name a few. The work conducted by CENTIENTS and elsewhere, will evolve into opportunities for automation/AI to redesign our life “inside” by granting it control over our indoor spaces.
