Security & Privacy Challenges of
Intelligent Environments

Intelligent environments raise new security and privacy challenges because they are built with diverse hardware and software platforms, and thus potentially are open to new vulnerabilities. Very little systematic research has been conducted in security and privacy related issues, partially because such systems are usually proprietary and related incidents are rarely reported. CENTIENTS focuses on this emerging yet important area of security and privacy challenges brought about by intelligent environments. We study the tradeoffs among security, privacy, and user experiences. CENTIENTS aims to develop new adaptive and flexible control schemes to secure such an expanded dynamic, diverse, and heterogeneous environment with good user experience.
